Printing panoramas and big views

Print it the shape you shot it. A panorama doesn't have to be cropped to a standard size. Choose a custom size in the designer, and we print it long and narrow. Custom prints go up to 1118 mm × 4 m.

Phone panoramas. The panorama mode on a phone makes a very wide file that isn't very tall. That height decides how big the print can be. Upload it and the designer tells you how well it suits the size you've entered. If it says to go smaller, go smaller.

Framing a panorama. A custom size can be framed online up to a 1016 × 762 mm (40 × 30 inch) opening. The frame is cut to order and the designer shows the price. For a longer panorama, contact us for a quote.

A view to stop in front of. A landscape shot on a good camera often prints well at A2 or A1, large enough to hang on its own. A2 prints start at $59.95, and an A1 framed print at $267.90.

Which paper. Smooth Cotton Rag is our default: matt and detailed, with no glare. For bold colour, like a sunset or the sea, Metallic Gloss gives a deliberately striking look. Every paper costs the same at each size.

Three from one trip. A landscape, a street and a person, hung together in matching frames, say more about a trip than one photo does. A3 framed prints start at $103.90 each.

Getting the photo right

  • Panoramas: choose a custom size in the designer. Custom prints go up to 1118 mm × 4 m.

  • Use the original file, not a screenshot or a copy sent through a messaging app, which is usually shrunk.
  • The designer checks the size for you. Once your photo shows in the preview, it tells you how well it suits the size you've chosen, and suggests a smaller size if it would print better there.
  • Not sure which paper? Choose "Recommended for You" and we'll pick the best of our nine Ilford papers for your photo. The paper doesn't change the price.

Questions

My photo was taken on a phone. How big can it go?

Upload it and the designer tells you. A recent phone photo prints well at A4 and often at A3.

Can I frame a panorama?

Yes. Choose a custom size in the designer and add a frame: it is cut to order to fit, and the designer shows you the price.

How long does it take?

Prints are usually ready to dispatch within 2–5 working days. Framed orders take 1–2 weeks, and larger orders can take longer.

What if something isn't right with my photo?

A person checks every file before it's printed. If something could be better, we'll contact you before we print.
