Planning a family gallery wall

Start with one frame finish. Photos taken years apart, on different cameras, look like a set when they share a frame and a mat colour. Or mix two finishes on purpose, like black with natural wood, and repeat them across the wall.

Lay it out before you hang it. Cut paper to the outside size of each frame and tape the sheets to the wall. Move them around until the spacing looks even, then hang the frames where the paper was. Gaps of 50 to 80 mm between frames usually look right.

Mix sizes around one anchor. Put one larger print, A3 or A2, near the middle at eye level. Arrange A4 and 8×10" prints around it. Decide the sizes first, then choose the frames.

Old photos and new ones. Recent phone photos and camera files print well. If a photo is old or small, print it smaller and it will look sharper. The designer tells you which sizes suit it.

One order for the whole wall. Add each photograph to your basket with its own size, paper and frame, and check out once. You can add up to 20 of each print.

Getting the photo right

  • Use the original file, not a screenshot or a copy sent through a messaging app, which is usually shrunk.
  • The designer checks the size for you. Once your photo shows in the preview, it tells you how well it suits the size you've chosen, and suggests a smaller size if it would print better there.
  • Not sure which paper? Choose "Recommended for You" and we'll pick the best of our nine Ilford papers for your photo. The paper doesn't change the price.

Questions

Can I order several different photos at once?

Yes. Add each one to your basket with its own size, paper and frame.

I already have a frame. Can I just get the print?

Yes. Every print can be ordered on its own, in the size your frame needs.

How long does it take?

Prints are usually ready to dispatch within 2–5 working days. Framed orders take 1–2 weeks, and larger orders can take longer.

What if something isn't right with my photo?

A person checks every file before it's printed. If something could be better, we'll contact you before we print.
